As we all know, there are many reasons that individuals or groups volunteer their time, talents, and resources to an agency or organization. Some love the mission and vision of the organization, some have personally benefited from the programs offered, and some simply need community service hours. Regardless of why they chose to volunteer, you are grateful to have them! Let each of your volunteers know you value and appreciate all they do for you and the organization. Recognition IdeasRecognition Dinner: Host a celebratory dinner with your food, evening, activity, and overnight hosts. Debrief the year and suggest improvements. Celebrate things that went well, and laugh about quirky things guests said or fun memories you had during the host weeks Write Personal Thank Yo+u Notes: After an individual, group or family signs up, create a Thank You card with their address on it. That will remind you to send a personal note of thanks for their volunteer experience, and how much it meant to you. Bulletin or Newsletter Announcement: If you congregation has a program that is passed out each week or has a monthly/quarterly newsletter, put a blurb of thanks to those that helped throughout the IHN hosting week, naming names or family/group names.
