Family Homeless Shelter Program
The Shelter Program provides shelter, meals, and supportive services to homeless families in Cincinnati . It is one of only two family shelters admitting men and adult children over age 12.
Shelter and meals are provided at the facilities of churches and synagogues. The Day Center provides case management, capacity-building classes (life skills, budgeting, and parenting), a staffed computer resource room to work on resumes, cover letters, housing and job searches, showers, laundry facilities, personal storage and kitchen facilities.
Through collaboration with UC College of Medicine, we provide mental health assessments for all children and referrals and neural developmental assessments for children three years of age and under. Other health services, such as health screenings by the Family Wellness Center, are also offered at the Day Center.
Guests also receive free transportation to case management-related appointments and services, as well as medical and other necessary services. Please see Transportation Program, for more information.
Project Connect provides after school tutoring to school-aged children.
When families leave the shelter, they often receive donated furniture through New Life Furniture Ministry , a program started by Tim Nabors and Holly Young from Milford First UMC. Read more about New Life Furniture here.

IHN Cincinnati Transportation Program
The Transportation Program provides free van service via two vans for six family shelters who are members of the Family Shelter Partnership Program. Van service takes preschool-aged children to day care, and takes parents to case management-related appointments and services and to medical and other essential services. Vans typically operate Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
This program also includes our Bus, which transports the families back and forth between the congregations every evening and the Day Center in the morning.
