Helpful Information for IHN Host and Support Congregation Coordinators

  • IHNGC Congregation Volunteer Manual

The purpose of this manual is to provide volunteers from Host and Support
Congregations with tools and information to assist them in leading the Interfaith
Hospitality Network model family homeless shelter at their home congregations.
This manual provides guidelines on how to host the shelter program at a congregation
and Interfaith Hospitality Network suggests that each congregation adjust the information
in the manual to fit their congregation facilities, size and volunteers’ needs.

  • IHNGC Host Coordinator Supplement

The purpose of this manual is to provide coordinators from Host and Support
Congregations additional tools and information to assist them in leading the Interfaith
Hospitality Network model family homeless shelter at their home congregations. Most of
the details in this supplement are not necessary for the general IHN volunteer to know,
but will help the Coordinator to organize the details of a host week, including the
volunteers.

Thank You
To all of our wonderful coordinators and volunteers, we appreciate all that you do. We
know that running an IHN program at your congregation is hard work—it takes time,
energy, enthusiasm, compassion, organization, and lots of flexibility to manage the
changing needs of our guests and your volunteers.

We hope that this website provides you additional information and resources to support you in your work with IHN families. Without people like you who collectively undertake service to homeless families in our community, over a thousand families would not have experienced the hospitality and emergency help that IHN has been able to provide since 1991.
